‘Hellboy’ reboot has a theatrical release date

Hellboy is one of the most highly anticipated reboots. Now an official release date has been given. Unfortunately, we still have another full year to see ‘Hellboy’.
Synopsis: Hellboy comes to England, where he must defeat Merlin’s consort and Nimue the Blood Queen. But their battle will bring about the end of the world, a fate he desperately tries to turn away.

Lionsgate’s Hellboy which stars David Harbour (Chief Hopper from Stranger Things) as Big Red and Milla Jovovich from the Resident Evil franchise as Nimue the Blood Queen.
Tentatively, Lionsgate will release Hellboy on Jan.11th of 2019.

This Hellboy reboot was directed by Neil Marshall and his vision which is more aligned with the comic book, will be darker giving this new film an “R” rating. This concept is similar in comparison to the Judge Dredd movies. Originally Sylvester Stallone played Dredd then a few years later a more “serious” version of Dredd hit theaters and in my opinion, was better than the Stallone one.
Here’s what David Harbour had to say about his role as Hellboy.
“There are things that I’m gonna do that are different. Hellboy is the same character from the comics and from what Ron did, there are certain things that are the same thing, but I do think that—I don’t know, there’s a different approach because I sort of highlight different things, I think, than Ron does. Ron sort of embraces this machismo in himself and in Hellboy, and I really like it and it’s super fun and it’s a super fun performance, but I think Hellboy has a certain psycho dynamic where occasionally he has to prove that he’s the lion, has to roar, and I think he struggles with his own masculinity. But I don’t think he needs that as much as maybe those other movies. I have a bit of a different take on his capability or his slickness. I sort of think that for me he’s a little less skilled at constructing that persona.”

While I was a huge fan of Guillermo Del Toro’s version of Hellboy in the 90’s, I am looking forward to the reboot. Now, one might wonder what the original Hellboy Ron Pearlman’s thoughts are on the reboot. When we find out we’ll let you know. Check back with us for more updates on the new Hellboy.
